After seeing Atomic Blonde, I need no convincing as to why Charlize Theron is your Atomic Blonde i.e a literal bad-ass. Charlize Theron (aka my home girl), properly pronounced as “Sharleese Ti-ron” was born to Gerda and Charles Theron in Benoni – South Africa. She is proficient in ballet and has danced both the Swan Lake and the Nutcracker. Unfortunately, her dancing career faced a road block due to a knee injury but that didn’t stop her. (ps. Step 1 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Break A Leg…literally).
In 1994 (my year of birth), Charlize went to Los Angeles in pursuit of her acting career. After visiting all the agents on Hollywood Boulevard without making any head way, her breakout performance finally happened in a banking hall where an angry Charlize made a scene because the bank would not cash her check. Unknown to her, an acting agent witnessed the entire scene. He gave her his card and required that she learned American English which she did by watching soap operas. (ps. Step 2 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Throw a tantrum).
Her first role was a non-speaking role with three seconds of screen time as a “young mother in a park” in a B-film in 1995. Her next role was as Helga Svelgen in 2 Days in the Valley (1996), which landed her the role of Tina Powers in That Thing You Do!(1996). Since then, she has starred in movies like The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998), The Cider House Rules (1999), The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000) and The Italian Job (2003). On February 29, 2004, she won her first Academy Award, for her performance in Monster (2003). (ps. Step 3 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Win an Academy Award).
Charlize had an unusual childhood as she suffered from Jaundice which caused her to have no milk teeth. Her mother also shot and killed her father in self-defense. As you may have started to imagine, it was a difficult time for Charlize. She grew up on a farm surrounded by many animals and against all odds her childhood was beautiful. These experiences shaped her into the strong symbol of womanhood and excellence that we see today. (ps. Step 4 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Lose all your milk teeth and stand for something).
Nonetheless, my home girl, who is one of the highest paid actresses loves to tell stories that no one else will. She is a force to reckon with and she continues to take giant strides in Hollywood as we saw in her brilliant Atomic Blonde performance which she produced breaking boundaries. (ps. Step 5 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Wear a wig and be blonder than most).

Once there, she teams up with an embedded station chief to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
Atomic Blonde is an action-packed film that is based on the novel “The Coldest City” by Antony Johnston. Charlize never stops reminding us why she is one of the best as she performed all her own stunts for the film. She also produced the film to represent womanhood in a way not many people dared to explore. The narrative of the film is a drives home a constant reminder on why Charlize Theron is your Atomic Blonde as we get to see her beat up grown men(ps. Step 6 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Do a lot of stunts, but only on camera).
Charlize expressed that Hollywood wasn’t too comfortable with seeing women with bruises. Hence, the production was to really support womanhood and expand the boundaries that confined movies with women in lead roles to lower budgets and other stereotypes in the society. The film which had a budget of $30 Billion earned $55.5 (Box Office). This among other things adds to the bunch of reasons why Charlize Theron Is Your Atomic Blonde. (ps. Step 7 on becoming an Atomic Blonde: Do bigger budgets, it’s a sure win).
This Atomic Blonde still has a few movies in the pipeline for 2018 and we can’t wait to see them too. I’ll be posting a separate article on this so because I have every intention to show you why Charlize Theron is your Atomic Blonde.
