In such a time when privacy has become luxury due to social media shenanigans, we finally get a movie that makes us wonder how many people actually come into our lives by fate and not through some well-cooked-up, not-just-okay scheme of knowing everything about us. Either way, stalkers are real! And Ingrid Goes West is all about the disturbing obsessions created in the minds of people who spend too much time on social media. Sadly, Instagram just happened to be the scapegoat…oh sorry, I mean object of depiction. Ingrid Goes West has the stalking game on steroids.
This upcoming blockbuster sees Aubrey Plaza take on the role of Ingrid, a social media stalker with motives no one can entirely figure out from the trailer alone. This comedy flick directed by Matt Spicer does not hesitate to take us down the lane of social psychopaths lurking in the shadows of our social media accounts, studying us like they need to make some crucial SAT scores, while having fun doing it.
Ingrid Goes West’s trailer promises us a remarkable revelation of the truths behind all that social media glamour and how they influence our subconscious daily. Being all about laughs, I expect the movie to take stalking to some serious extremes that would make even Donald Trump afraid of Twitter. The star-studded cast is made up of Aubrey Plaza (Ingrid), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Dan Pinto) and Elizabeth Olsen (Taylor Sloane). Taylor who happens to be Ingrid’s new stalking obsession is one of the very-many-few who have an incredibly constructed Instagram feed depicting the perfect life…ps hashtags are everything.
In a bid to replicate the kind of lifestyle Taylor has, Ingrid indeed goes west to California, to get a more hands on experience on how to live “the perfect life” (we’ll do anything for the gram these days, lol). Clearly, Ingrid Goes West has the stalking game on steroids in more ways than one as we also see O’Shea Jackson Jr. starring as Dan Pinto bring his own version of crazy to this flick…you never go wrong with a black bad boy.
Find out how it all goes down in theatres on the 11th of August as Ingrid Goes West Premieres in theatres. Atleast for now, we can all agree on one thing; Ingrid Goes West has the stalking game on steroids. Let me know how you feel about Ingrid Goes West in the comment section below.
