What film could this be? What is she talking about? Hold your horses people! It’s “The Ugly Truth.” If you haven’t seen the film, you need to download it…it’s totally worth it.
Synopsis: Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) is a lovelorn TV producer who, despite a long and arduous search for the perfect mate, is hopelessly single. The battle of the sexes heats up when her employers team her up with Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), an opinionated TV celebrity who plans to put Abby through the wringer to prove his own theories about what makes men and women tick.
The Ugly Truth (2009) is a film starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. It just so happens to be one of my favorite Hollywood Rom-Coms (to be honest, I have quite a few of these). The multiple award winning 2009 Romantic Comedy directed by Legally Blonde’s Robert Luketic was absolutely mind blowing in its year of release. The great part is that it still remains evergreen many years after for quite a number of reasons. In fact, its 2019 and I am still swooning over this film.
I saw the film quite recently again for like the umpteenth time and I was inspired to write an inside scoop on what both lead actors; Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl are up to today. The film, with an estimated budget of around $40,000,000 (according to IMDB), grossed around $200,000,000 worldwide.
Since then, Gerard Butler of Irish origin studied to become a lawyer/solicitor at the University of Glasgow while Katherine Heigl graduated high school, became a rock star model and an amazing actress. Ps. Both actors have Irish origins.
Apparently, Katherine began to model very early in life which explains why she’s got that much swagger. She developed her passion for acting a little later but still continued to slay on those kickass modelling jobs.
Meanwhile, Butler kicked off his acting career when he met actor; Steven Berkoff. He first debuted in Mrs. Brown (1997); it’s an old movie I never watched. Where were you in 1997? (I was alive and well…that’s all lol).
Since The Ugly Truth, Butler has had his hands full; with Hollywood blockbusters like; Olympus has Fallen and London has Fallen. Even more recently the much anticipated Angel has Fallen now has his full attention as well. From romantic comedy to 8 action flicks – I can’t even complain, my guy knows his stuff!
Other movies the law abiding superstar (pun totally intended) has also starred in are; The Bounty Hunter, How to train your Dragon, Gods of Egypt, Geostorm, Den of Thieves, Hunter Killer etc.
However, Heigl has not been as active as Butler in the film industry and has only worked on a few movies since then. Some of which are; Life As We Know It, Killers, Unforgettable, etc. Argh! If I were her manager, I would place her on a blockbuster to revive her acting career because damn! That girl has got game!
