Hobbs and Shaw? Whose idea was it to bring these two together? This is all a part of Hollywood’s ploy to take all my money this year; kolewerk! These producers have decided to toil with our basic instincts to give us;
Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw: the Fast and Furious spinoff we don’t deserve.
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have been working really hard to bring us the biggest showdown this summer has ever seen in Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.
This take on the Fast and Furious spinoff is centered on three main characters;
• The Outlaw Lawman; HOBBS – played by Dwayne Johnson
• The International Spy; SHAW – played by Jason Statham
• The Baddest Guy the Fast and Furious Franchise has ever seen; BRIXTON – played by Idris Elba
I would like to give you a little background to this Brixton guy who also happens to be the villain of this installment;
• The Name: Brixton
• The Record: Undefeated
• The Promise: Showdown of all showdowns
Not my words but those of Johnson. You should already have goosebumps!
This mysterious, action-packed and thrilling film was directed by David Leitch of Atomic Blonde. Other films by Leitch which you may have already seen are; Deadpool 2, or The Mechanic – where he served as a second unit director.
According to Statham’s description of Leitch while speaking with Entertainment Weekly; “he is just a true expert on this kind of stuff”. Regardless of the fact that this is a spin-off of Fast and Furious, Hobbs and Shaw seems ready to become the next adrenaline pumping franchise in Hollywood.
“We want it to be a bit more grounded, more character-centric”
said Leitch in a recent interview.
You can expect the film to be centered on the relationship between Hobbs and Shaw, their conflict, their banter and their crazy chemistry. With two trailers already online, Elba has already proven himself to be a worthy foe for those two knuckleheads, and little wonder if they might actually be way in over their heads this time around.
Either way, brace yourself as the battle for testosterone supremacy begins. The stakes are looking high for this flick and this is one showdown I don’t want to miss.
Although the cast is already amazing, it could have been been a lot more! Why? We could have had Jason Mamoa on there, but the guy’s schedule was too packed, and there was nothing Johnson could do about it.
Vanessa Kirby, popularly known for her roles in Netflix’s The Crown, Mission Impossible: Fallout and Me Before You, will be playing Shaw’s sister who is the first person to encounter Brixton while on a mission. Her encounter with him forces her to call for help to handle the situation. Being such a brilliant actress. I expect nothing less than a stunning performance, she had better bring it!
It’s time to mark your calendars again people, as this promising flick comes to theatres on 4 August 2019 (USA).
